Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.   

Two young athletes from Les Coteaux shine outside Vaudreuil-Soulanges

Two young athletes from the Municipalité des Coteaux have recently made their mark on the international scene. Sandy Godmer, 18, finished first at the USA 2024 World Flag Football Championship, and Sasha Jouthe Klang recently won a $1,500 bursary. 

Saint-Lazare athlete wins first gold medal for the Sud-Ouest at the Jeux du Québec

On Sunday, March 3, Saint-Lazare's Samuel Dion helped the Sud-Ouest win its first medal on the second day of competition at the Jeux du Québec in Sherbrooke.

A trio of honorary presidents for the Salon des vins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges 2024

Denis Lapointe, President of the Foundation de l'Hôpital de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, has announced that the Salon de vins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges 2024 will be presented under the aegis of the trio of owners of Informatique Commerciale du Suroît (ICS) Inc. Mr. Frédéric Lalonde, Mr. Stéphane Binette and Ms. Stéphanie Savoie.

Cité-des-Jeunes Arena: hydration without non-refillable bottles

Since autumn 2023, a new feature has been attracting the attention of visitors to the Cité-des-jeunes arena. A Station KUPA, an innovative water dispenser, was installed by the new intermunicipal administration to offer the arena's various users a variety of hydration options, while eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles.

Call for projects: Errances returns for a 3rd year

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion's Errances initiative is back for a third year! This time, the fixed-duration festival will instead take the form of a series of in situ and ambulatory performances preceding local events in the city, as part of the summer programming.

Health: Measles is back

With the number of measles cases currently on the rise in several countries, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) is issuing a call for vigilance. A few cases of measles have been confirmed in Quebec in recent weeks, and these were not necessarily related to a return from travel.

100,000 made available to Vaudreuil-Soulanges organizations and municipalities

In view of the enthusiasm generated by the Community Development Fund and its past successes, the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is launching a new call for projects. An envelope of $100,000 is available to organizations and municipalities in the region.

Hudson prepares its traditional St. Patrick's Day parade

The Town of Hudson is gearing up for its traditional St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 16, in the heart of its village core. Residents and non-residents alike are invited to join in the festivities from March 13 to 16. 

Les Coteaux: work to be undertaken on rue Lippé still to be determined

In its March municipal magazine, Le Rassembleur, the Municipalité des Coteaux provided an update on the Rue Lippé issue.

It's official: the Fondation Jean Lapointe's Défi 28 jours sans alcool came to an end a few days ago, having raised $745,000 as part of its annual fundraising campaign. In Montérégie, this corresponds to $146,687 and a total of 1,426 participants!

Four student athletes rewarded by the Aléo Foundation

The Fondation Aléo's Accès Nouvelle Génération program offered $124,000 in scholarships and services to 63 talented young student-athletes. Of these, four live in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. 

Walmart arson: Luciano Minisini Burke was no stranger to crime

On February 20, police officers from the Vaudreuil-Dorion MRC arrested an 18-year-old Hudson man in connection with two arsons that had occurred in recent months in Vaudreuil-Dorion and Piedmont.

An athlete from Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot makes her mark on the international sports scene

From February 15 to 21, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot resident Coralie Demers took part in the Elite Canada competition in Langley, just outside Vancouver. This was Coralie's first official competition in the Junior High Performance category, which brings together the best gymnasts in her age group in Canada.
