Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been in the news in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.  

An athlete from Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot joins the Halifax Mooseheads

Born in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, goaltender Thomas Fontaine joins the Hallifax Mooseheads as an affiliate player.

Car/train collision in L'Île-Perrot

A vehicle collided with a Canadian National (CN) train at L'Île-Perrot Nord shortly before 7 a.m. on Monday morning.

A former Pincourt Intrepides player wins the Grey Cup

A little over two weeks after helping his team, the Montreal Alouettes, win the 8th Grey Cup in their history, Neomedia spoke with defensive back Tysen-Otis Copeland. The 26-year-old number 32 has strong roots in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

Jiana donates profits from her books to the Alzheimer Society

Vaudreuil-Dorion lecturer and writer Jiana Saad is offering the public the chance to buy her books on Amazon between now and February 28, 2024. All profits will be donated to the Alzheimer Suroît Society, as her mother suffers from this degenerative disease. The titles of the books published in 2020 and 2022 are Je suis Rima, analphabète, et j'écris mon livre (the story of her mother) and BAM, une ode à la connaissance de soi (Bouge, Aime, Mange).

Take part in the Great Illumination of Pincourt

Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: discontent among motorists

On Friday December 1, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable informed Vaudreuil-Soulanges residents of a change in configuration on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge. In place for the winter season, it now allows only one lane per direction, at all times. It's a measure that's provoked discontent among many motorists.

Wheelchair Pincourt tennis player Natalia Lanucha excelled at the ITF Bourassa Savaria tournament held in Montreal last weekend. She won gold in singles and silver in doubles! Natalia continues her momentum towards competing in the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: another six to eight weeks of misery

It was on social network X, formerly Twitter, that the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Geneviève Guilbault, launched an appeal to employers, asking them to show indulgence and flexibility to their employees living in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

Vehicle registration: a new tax of $59 will be imposed on CMM citizens

As of January 1, 2024, owners of vehicles registered within the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) will be subject to a new registration tax. Imposed since 2011 on Montreal motorists, this tax will now apply to all cities making up the CMM.

Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: difficult to ban trucking

According to the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD), a ban on trucking on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge could be considered in the event of force majeure, but its application would be difficult. At present, only non-standard vehicles are allowed on the bridge.

Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: no question of declaring a state of emergency

Vaudreuil-Dorion mayor Guy Pilon is quite categorical. A state of emergency over the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge is out of the question.

Vaudreuil-Dorion inaugurates the 4th edition of the Lumin'Art exhibition

On Thursday, December 1, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion inaugurated the fourth edition of the Lumin'Art exhibition at Parc Le 405. Several dozen people gathered to discover the new artworks installed in the park.
