Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.
Specialized high-altitude rescue teams from the Ville de Rigaud and Ville de Pincourt fire departments, in collaboration with the Service de sécurité incendie de Vaudreuil-Dorion, took advantage of the presence of cranes on the site of the future Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital to hold a high-altitude rescue exercise.
Two upcoming blood drives in Vaudreuil-Soulanges in early June
Héma-Québec will be visiting the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region twice in early June to hold blood drives. Those interested in taking part can already make an appointment to donate.
L'Harmonie avancée de la Cité wins gold in New York
From April 25 to 28, the Harmonie avancée from Cité-des-Jeunes high school was in New York to take part in the Heritage Festival, a large-scale musical competition held at Riverside Church, an interdenominational church in the northern part of Manhattan.
Christian Bernard and Gymini: a passion for cheerleading at 61
When they say there's no age limit for starting a new passion, well, Christian Bernard proves it with his involvement in Gymini Cheerleading. He started at the age of 49 and today, at 61, he's the oldest member of his Gymini Cheerleading team, as well as the oldest Cheerleader in Quebec and possibly Canada.

On May 3, at the Paul-Émile-Lépine community center, the Association des personnes d'origine africaine et caribéenne de Vaudreuil-Soulanges et de Beauharnois-Salaberry (APOAC) celebrated the completion of a project that will enable and facilitate follow-up for members of these communities who are experiencing mental health problems, an extremely taboo subject for these groups.

Six Vaudreuil-Dorion resident athletes, identified as Espoir, Relève or Élite by their respective federations, were honoured this Tuesday at the city council meeting.
Region selected to host provincial cross-country championships
For the first time, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region will host the next two editions of the Provincial Cross-Country Championships, on October 26, 2024 and October 25, 2026. The major competition, which will bring together over 800 athletes from across Quebec, will be held at Parc nature les forestiers de Saint-Lazare.
Jasmine Sharma wants the City to address the phenomenon of renovations
The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion will be addressing the issue of renovations on its territory. The municipal council ratified a resolution to this effect, proposed by independent city councillor Jasmine Sharma at the council meeting on Tuesday, May 21.
Saint-Clet: new Fleurons du Québec evaluation
The municipality of Saint-Clet is launching an appeal to all its citizens, as well as to businesses and institutions located on its territory, with a view to the next 2024-2026 Fleurons du Québec classification. An evaluation visit will take place between now and September 2024. The outcome will depend on everyone's cooperation.
