Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.

Abandoned house destroyed by flames

An uninhabited residence on chemin du Fleuve in Les Cèdres was completely destroyed by flames early Sunday morning.

Cité-des-Jeunes jazz band takes gold

The 45th edition of the JazzFest des jeunes du Québec took place on April 6, 2024 at the André-Laurendeau school. Participants included the Jazz Band Relève, the Combo Jazz and the Jazz Band Senior under the direction of Christian Scraire and Marc-André Thibault.

Rehabilitation of Pine Lake: Hudson puts project on hold

Drained since its dam collapsed in 2014, Pine Lake will not be rehabilitated, at least not for the time being. That's what the Town of Hudson has confirmed.

Five Vaudreuil-Soulanges kayakers in action on May 11 and 12

From May 11 to 12, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield will host the Canadian national whitewater canoe-kayak team trials. More than 50 athletes from Canada, the United States and France will be in attendance. Among them will be five kayakers from Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

Benefit dinner raises $2,500 for Relay for Life

On April 20, many residents of the Municipality of Les Cèdres and surrounding area gathered at the Pavillon des bénévoles, 145 rue Valade, to take part in a benefit dinner for Relay for Life. The initiative, organized by five dynamic young people, was a resounding success. 

Chantal Séguin and Théâtre de la Pièce honoured by Musée régional

Chantal Séguin, curator of exhibitions at the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and the organization Théâtre de la Pièce cassée, both received the annual Mérite patrimonial award, recognizing the exceptional work of Vaudreuil-Soulanges organizations and individuals in promoting heritage.

So attached are they to their Maison des Jeunes that they continue to be involved even into adulthood

While for some, youth sometimes rhymes with laziness, this is not the case at the Maison des jeunes des Cèdres. Néomédia visited the Maison des jeunes des Cèdres on Monday evening to meet with a community organizer and an administrator on the organization's board of directors, but above all with two dynamic young people who are still involved in the community they themselves attended as teenagers.
