Les Cèdres
Abandoned house destroyed by flames
An uninhabited residence on chemin du Fleuve in Les Cèdres was completely destroyed by flames early Sunday morning.
Cedars firefighters were called to 1609 chemin du Fleuve at 3:48 a.m. due to a blaze.
“When we arrived, we found that the blaze was widespread. For the moment, the cause is still undetermined, and we cannot explain how the fire spread. However, we can confirm that there is no criminal element involved,” Stéphane Gourley, Director of the municipal fire department, told Neomedia.
Due to the absence of fire hydrants in the area, firefighters had to resort to the use of swimming pools to ensure the water supply.
Firefighters from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Coteau-du-Lac/Les Coteaux, Saint-Clet, Saint-Lazare, Hudson and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield were called to assist. The Pincourt/Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot brigade was also on site to provide air support.
The intervention ended around 9 a.m.
