Public transit fares up in Vaudreuil-Soulanges
The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) unveiled its new fare structure on Tuesday, effective July 1.
Fares in the metropolitan fare grid will be subject to a weighted average indexation of 3%. In a context where a review of public transit's financial model is necessary, this update helps limit the impact of the financial crisis on users.
“Public transit is facing major funding challenges, and despite this, the annual fare update is responsible and aims to protect access to the various services for the entire population. Public transit remains a wise choice compared to other more expensive modes of transportation with a greater environmental footprint, such as the solo car. What's more, with the gradual introduction of the new REM branches in the metropolitan network, users will benefit from greater flexibility when making their trips. Everything is being done to maintain our service offering and promote more sustainable mobility in the region,” said Benoît Gendron, ARTM General Manager.
