Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days. 

A training camp in Colombia and a World Championship appearance for Justin Lafleur

Barely underway, the year 2024 is shaping up to be a fun one for young BMX athlete Justin Lafleur. The 13-year-old Coteau-du-Lac resident will be flying to Colombia in the next few hours, in addition to taking part in the World Championships in May.

Reminder: increase in toll rates on autoroute 30

A30 Express wishes to inform motorists that toll booth rates will be updated as of February 1, 2024.

Two major initiatives launched in Hudson in 2024

In 2024, the Town of Hudson will be working on two important initiatives for culture and recreation. These are presented in La Voix d'Hudson, the municipal magazine. They are the Parks and Green Spaces Master Plan and the Cultural Policy. 

The Caravane des neiges stops at Les Forestiers nature park in January

On January 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Les Forestiers nature park will be hosting the Caravane des neiges. For the occasion, residents are invited to come and enjoy the pleasures of winter with a number of free activities. 

Pincourt's new citizens invited to a welcome party

The Town of Pincourt invites all new residents who have settled on its territory since 2018 to a welcome snack. The event will be held on Sunday, January 28 from 11am to 1pm at the Omni-Centre. 

Vaudreuil-Dorion: submit your environmental projects by February 29

Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is launching the third edition of the Fonds communautaire Écoprojets. Until February 29, Vaudreuil-Dorion residents, non-profit organizations and public institutions are invited to submit an environmental project that they wish to implement and that could benefit the community. Successful initiatives will be awarded a grant of up to $5,000.

Les Forestiers nature park: only a few days left to take the survey

The town of Saint-Lazare, assisted by Vignola Stratégies d'affaires, is currently conducting an opportunity study for the development and enhancement of Les Forestiers nature park. 

Some thirty firefighters battled a blaze on Valois Street on Sunday evening

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion's fire department was called to 485 rue Valois around 9:30 pm on Sunday, January 7, when the garage attached to a residence was engulfed in flames.

Francization program for local businesses

Good news for companies in the West Island and Vaudreuil-Soulanges regions: they can now benefit from financial assistance to train their employees in basic French skills for the workplace. Thanks to a partnership between the Cégep Gérald-Godin's Formation continue et services aux entreprises and the Ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale (MESS) and Francisation Québec, this workplace francization is now possible.

Blood samples are now available at the local Point de service in Vaudreuil-Dorion

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de la Montérégie-Ouest confirms that it is now possible to book an appointment via Clic santé for a blood test at the Point de service local - Vaudreuil-Dorion, at the same location as the COVID vaccination and screening service at 585, rue Saint-Charles, local 50. 

Saint-Zotique field hockey player acquired by the Valleyfield Braves

The Valleyfield Braves announced in the last few hours that they have acquired an athlete born in Saint-Zotique, goaltender Mathis Langevin. The Braves' General Manager made the announcement. 

Enjoy winter with the whole family in Saint-Zotique during the Festiglace festival

The town of Saint-Zotique is delighted to announce that Festiglace will be held at Parc Quatre-Saisons on January 21. This family event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., promises a lively day of outdoor entertainment.

The G.R.A.V.E.S. changes its name

Officially since December 6, 2023, the Grand rassemblement pour les aînés de Vaudreuil et Soulanges (G.R.A.V.E.S.) has changed its corporate name, and the Registraire des entreprises has confirmed the name change is now proudly known as: Carrefour Bienveillance 50+.

Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: one lane reopened, in westbound direction only

Weather permitting, the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge could be back to a third traffic lane as early as next Monday. While this is good news in itself, motorists will still have their work cut out for them, as dynamic traffic management will be impossible for safety reasons. As a result, two lanes will be available towards Vaudreuil-Dorion, and only one towards Montreal, at all times.

Vaudreuil-Dorion resident participates in Student Parliament for the third time

Vaudreuil-Dorion resident Éloïse Bricault, a linguistics student at the Université de Montréal, got the year 2024 off to a great start by taking part in the Student Parliament. The initiative, which annually brings together citizens from across the province, takes place at the National Assembly, where Quebec's 125 MNAs sit. 

Île-aux-Tourte bridge: why no dynamic management?

Over the past few weeks, congestion on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge has been heaviest towards Vaudreuil-Dorion, and for safety reasons, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) has decided to open a third westbound lane only.

Budget 2024: a 1.54% tax increase in Coteau-du-Lac

Although the City of Coteau-du-Lac's operating budget and three-year capital investment program (PTI) were ratified last December, the adoption of the taxation by-law was on the agenda for the Tuesday, January 9 meeting to conclude the annual budget planning process.
