Fonds communautaire Écoprojets's thid edition
Vaudreuil-Dorion: submit your environmental projects by February 29
Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is launching the third edition of the Fonds communautaire Écoprojets. Until February 29, Vaudreuil-Dorion residents, non-profit organizations and public institutions are invited to submit an environmental project that they wish to implement and that could benefit the community. Successful initiatives will be awarded a grant of up to $5,000.
The Fonds communautaire Écoprojets is part of the 2020-2025 Habité par ma ville strategic plan, which promotes citizen participation. It aims to encourage initiatives that promote the environment and its protection, in line with the themes of the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion's environmental policy, i.e. protection of water resources, urban agriculture, residual materials, adaptation to climate change and biodiversity and natural environments.
In 2023, four organizations were granted financial assistance for their projects, thanks to this fund: L'Atelier paysan (Jardin des pollinisateurs), the Fondation de l'école de la Cité-des-Jeunes (Mon campus, mon boisé), the CPE Les Petits Mousses (Forêt nourricière des Petits Mousses) and the Brind'Amour school (Jardin communautaire). "Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion has chosen to encourage citizen participation. The Fonds communautaire Écoprojets is a direct result of this vision. We invite citizens or groups of citizens to submit their projects now," said Mayor Guy Pilon.
Here are a few examples of projects that could be submitted under the Fonds communautaire Écoprojets:
- Development of gardens for pollinators, urban and nourishing forests and tree planting in a grid of connected lots;
- Workshops on environmental themes (e.g. residual materials, zero waste, etc.)
- Cleaning chores;
- Financing of an environmental education program (e.g. "cycliste averti", scol'ERE carbon exchange);
- Organization of an environmental conference or event;
- Purchase of a collective composter;
- Organization of workshops dedicated to the self-repair of broken appliances to encourage zero waste in the community;
- Purchase of zero-waste equipment for a public institution or non-profit organization;
- Implementation of a bike-sharing system;
- Developments to reduce environmental pollution (e.g. rain gardens).
