Reminder: complete closure of the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge from September 6 to 9

The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable wishes to inform road users that the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, linking Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion on Highway 40 (Félix-Leclerc), will be completely closed to traffic over the weekend of September 6 to 9.

This closure is required to continue construction of the drainage system for the new bridge, and to install a new configuration on eastbound Highway 40 in the area. Maintenance work will also be carried out on the bridge, including the installation of a membrane and asphalting.

Note that a complete closure of the bridge will again be required on the weekend of September 20, 2024. 

Traffic management from Friday, September 6, at 11:59 p.m. to Monday, September 9, at 5 a.m: 

- Complete closure of Autoroute 40 westbound between Exit 41 - Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue/boul. des Anciens-Combattants/ Autoroute 20 westbound/Île Perrot and the entrance from avenue Saint-Charles.

- In the westbound direction, access to chemin Senneville will be maintained for users travelling to this area.

- Complete closure of eastbound Autoroute 40 between Exit 35 - Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac/Vaudreuil-Dorion/Av. St-Charles and the entrance from boulevard des Anciens-Combattants.

- The ramp leading east from autoroute 40 to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be closed at the interchange with autoroute 30. Users are invited to use autoroutes 20 and 30 instead.

When the bridge reopens on Monday September 9, a total of three lanes will be available, including two in the direction of traffic flow, thanks to dynamic traffic management.

Detour routes will be marked with temporary signage.

During this closure, the public is invited to use public transit and to take advantage of the mitigation measures in place due to the obstructions to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge. In addition, tolls will be suspended in both directions on Autoroute 30 to provide an additional alternative.

The Ministry advises road users who will have to travel in the area to allow extra time to reach their destination.
