Another eventful week is coming to an end. Here's what's been in the news in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.

Water meters for the Como sector in Vaudreuil-Dorion?

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion is considering installing water meters at some 200 residences in the Como sector. At least, that's what we learned at the last council meeting, held on Monday, July 3. 

Théâtre de l'île Perrot launches its artistic season

Théâtre de l'île Perrot launches its artistic season. From June to September, a dozen performances are offered to day camp audiences, with a new show featuring music, theater and dance in a participatory formula. 

A varied program for Saint-Laz'Arts 

The Saint-Laz'Arts musical program took off on Thursday, July 6. 

A Vaudreuil-Dorion native to represent Canada in figure skating this fall 

Figure skater Maxime Deschamps, a native of Vaudreuil-Dorion, and his partner Deanna Stellato-Dudek will be among the 18 Canadian athletes representing the country at a major competition to be held in British Columbia from October 27 to 29.  

Three new collaborators at Friperie L'Actuel 

Since the start of the summer season, Friperie L'Actuel has initiated a project with three female collaborators on Facebook and Instagram. Laurence, Annaliese and Celia share their thrift store finds. They've got style and a love for thrift stores. 

Meters meant to determine how much water is being used

The initiative by Town of Pincourt calling for volunteers to have water meters installed at their homes is meant to determine the amount of water being consumed, said Mayor Claude Comeau. 

Resident asks Councillor Richard Chartrand to resign 

Saint Lazare Councillor Richard Chartrand was asked to resign for comments made to a resident during question period at the council meeting last June and for his email reply to a complaint that was made soon after the meeting. 

Saint-Lazare unveils Espace des Muses 

On Thursday, July 6, Ville de Saint-Lazare kicked off an ephemeral art exhibition in the park at 1530 rue Poirier, a space newly christened Espace des Muses. 

Official opening of Krema et Co Gelato et Gâteries 

Who hasn't dreamed of being able to enjoy a good gelato just around the corner? Lina Cantali has made this dream come true by creating Krema et Co Gelato et Gâteries, which officially opened on Saturday, July 8. The business is located on avenue Saint-Charles, at the corner of rue des Loisirs in Vaudreuil-Dorion. 

Microbrasserie 3 Lacs continues its commitment to a regional cause 

An initiative born of the COVID-19 pandemic, Microbrasserie 3 Lacs continues its commitment to the community three years later. Early on Tuesday, July 11, the co-owner of the Vaudreuil-Dorion-based company donated $800 to the Fondation du centre hospitalier de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

Free tennis sessions via the Sports Experts Tour 

On Thursday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at 21 rue Louise-Josephte in Vaudreuil-Dorion, and on Saturday, July 22, at the same time, at 591 avenue Bédard in Saint-Lazare, free tennis sessions are offered to fans, via the Sports Experts Tour. 

Over $28,000 to improve road safety in Les Cèdres 

Marilyne Picard, MNA for Soulanges, on behalf of Geneviève Guilbault, Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, announces $28,619 for the Municipality of Les Cèdres to invest in road safety improvement projects. 

Marie-Claude Nichols highlights the success of the 2023 summer clinic 

On July 8, the Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil, Marie-Claude Nichols, in collaboration with Le Zèbre Rouge, held a bike clinic to give residents of the riding a free tune-up. 

A new electric charging station in Vaudreuil-Dorion

This week, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is installing a new electric charging station on its territory. It is located on rue Dutrisac.  

Saint Lazare mayor apologies for council's behaviour 

Saint Lazare Mayor Geneviève Lachance apologized to a resident for the way she was treated by some councillors at the monthly council meeting last June.
