Classes and activities suspended this Monday morning at Cégep de Valleyfield

Following in the footsteps of the common front, a strike will be called by Cégep de Valleyfield staff this Monday, November 6, from midnight to noon. 

Members of the unions representing support staff (SCFP- FTQ), professionals (FPPC-CSQ) and teachers (FNEEQ-CSN) are involved in this action, and will be applying pressure. 

What will happen to courses, evaluations and learning activities? 

- During the strike, courses and learning activities, as well as supervised internships, will be lifted and resumed according to the amended school calendar enclosed in the mailing. For example, the half-day morning session on Monday, November 6 will be resumed on Tuesday, December 12; 

- As for courses without direct supervision, some will be maintained for the morning. Students should refer to their internship supervisor for details.

- Finally, for Continuing Education, new periods will be established for the resumption of courses. The Continuing Education Department will contact teachers and students with further details.

- Classes on Monday November 6 will resume at 12.10 p.m., according to the usual timetable.

Extracurricular activities

Student activities will also be suspended in the morning and will resume at noon. Evening activities will be maintained.

Access to Cégep and study centers and auxiliary services.

Please note that the Cégep de Valleyfield and its study centers will be inaccessible from midnight until noon, with some exceptions. Student residences will remain accessible, as will the library.However, the library will open at 9 a.m.

As for the COOP, its schedule will be modified and it will open at noon.Finally, the cafeteria on the main campus will be closed for the day, while Café chez Rose will be open only from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.For those who must get to the main Cégep campus, you will have to park at the back for the morning.Bus services will be maintained, and the Société de Transport de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield will increase its departures to the Cégep from the Gare de Vaudreuil in the late morning.
