The Artistic Director of the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Judy Hung, is calling on young musicians in the region who are looking for a new challenge and would like to join the ranks of the musical ensemble. With the 2024-2025 season just around the corner, recruitment is underway. 

Radon detectors for sale at low cost in Vaudreuil-Dorion

Once again this year, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion is making radon detectors available to interested residents. This device measures the concentration of this colorless, odorless gas in a home. They are available at a modest cost of $5. 

Less than two weeks to go before the open house at the Saint-Lazare fire station

On Saturday, September 14, Ville de Saint-Lazare will be opening the doors of its municipal fire station to young and old alike. This will be an ideal opportunity to learn more about the firefighting profession and the behaviours to adopt on a daily basis to improve safety for all. 

VIP en blues 2024: three days of fun from September 13 to 15

The 2024 edition of VIP en blues will take place from September 13 to 15 in L'Île-Perrot. New this year, blues fans will be treated to a three-day event on September 13, 14 and 15. 

Drinking and driving: Cedreau man sentenced to 75 days in prison

A citizen of Les Cèdres pleaded guilty this Tuesday, September 3, to a charge of driving while impaired by alcohol before Judge Marie-Chantal Doucet at the Valleyfield courthouse. Mathieu Leduc received a 75-day prison sentence, to be served intermittently starting Sunday, September 15. 

Kayaking from Montreal to Quebec City for a good cause

From August 22 to 25, a Saint-Zotique resident took part in the 10th edition of the Desgagnés Kayak Challenge to benefit the students of the Jeunes musiciens du monde organization. Interview with Vincent Lemieux, who took up the challenge by kayaking the 250 kilometers between Montreal and Quebec City.

Accused of having had an extramarital relationship with a minor for several years, Yan Lecompte was back in court this Wednesday, September 4, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

CMQ imposes Benoit Durand's suspension

In a judgment pronounced on August 14 by the Commission municipale du Québec (CMQ) and submitted to the municipal council of the Municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades on Tuesday, September 3, Judge Thierry Usclat imposed the suspension of District 3 Councillor Benoit Durand.

Fabio Puglisi: the defense wants to rule on his criminal responsibility

The case of Fabio Puglisi, the 44-year-old man charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault in Vaudreuil-Dorion last February, was back in court on Thursday, September 5. Not surprisingly, his lawyer, Alexandre Dubé, asked Quebec Court Judge Claude Provost to issue an order establishing, or not, his client's criminal responsibility at the time of the events.

Assault in Rigaud: Suspect Wanted

Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec's Vaudreuil-Soulange Investigations Division are asking for the public's assistance in the Rigaud area to help identify the suspect in an assault causing bodily harm that occurred on the night of August 13, 2024, in a licensed establishment on boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Rigaud.

Camping Koa: Coteau-du-Lac unveils plans for site redevelopment

On Thursday August 29, dozens of Coteau-du-Lac residents gathered at the Pavillon Wilson to voice their concerns about the residential project that could be developed on the site of the former Camping Koa, bordering Highway 20 and Route 338. They fear the environmental impact that redevelopment of this site could have on the surrounding natural environment.

The proposed redevelopment of the former Camping Koa site is causing concern among dozens of Coteau-du-Lac residents who attended a public consultation session held on August 28 at Pavillon Wilson. During the session, it was revealed that a 280-door housing project could be built there in the near future. 

Les Cèdres to adopt moratorium to halt residential construction

On Wednesday, September 4, the Municipality of Les Cèdres held a public consultation in the Salle des délibérations of the Town Hall, to present draft by-law number 517-2024 on the management of water and sewer supply and treatment. Specifically, this by-law will impose a moratorium prohibiting the construction of residential projects on municipal territory for a period of two years.
