Another eventful week is coming to an end. Here's what's been in the news in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days. 

A moving farewell to Father Gérald Sareault

The funeral of Father Gérald Sareault, who passed away at the end of July, was held in Saint-Lazare on Friday, August 4. Bishop Noël Simard presided over the mass in a packed church to bid a final farewell to this much-loved man. 

Expansion work at the Vaudreuil-Dorion ecocenter

The Réseau des écocentres de la MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges will soon be expanding its Vaudreuil-Dorion ecocenter. 

La Grande fête du monde returns for its 8th edition on August 27  

After a few years' hiatus, the eighth edition of LA GRANDE FÊTE DU MONDE will take place on Sunday, August 27, presented by Salle Pauline-Julien. 

Major work underway on the Coteaux territory

The Municipality of Les Coteaux has confirmed the upcoming launch of a major project to replace and rehabilitate 865 metres of water and sewer mains on Sauvé Street.

A stolen pick up is set on fire in Saint-Polycarpe

At 11pm on Monday August 7, Saint-Polycarpe and Saint-Télesphore firefighters were called to Chemin Saint-Georges to extinguish a vehicle fire. After checking, Sûreté du Québec officers found that the pickup had been reported stolen by their colleagues from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). 

Road accident causes temporary closure of 69th Avenue in Saint-Zotique

At around 1:30pm, a semi-trailer was involved in a road accident on 69th Avenue opposite the Saint-Zotique fire station.

Vaudreuil-Dorion temporarily suspends the issuance of building permits in the Harwood-De Lotbinière sector

At a special meeting held on August 8, the municipal council of the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion adopted a notice of motion and a draft by-law to temporarily suspend the issuance of building permits for new housing in the Harwood - De Lotbinière sector, for a maximum period of two years.

Hudson will hold SDC revival meeting

The Town of Hudson will hold a public meeting to discuss the revival of the Société de developpement commercial (SDC) at the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre, 394 Main Road, on August 21 at 7 p.m.

Collision forces closure of access to Autoroute 30 at Vaudreuil-Dorion

A spectacular collision occurred shortly before 6:30 this morning on the ramp to Autoroute 30 from Autoroute 20 east, in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The driver of a heavy truck carrying parcels and mail fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a guardrail and then into a traffic arch owned by NA30.
