Royal Canadian Mint: three new coins signed by a Beaudett artist
Rivière-Beaudette resident wildlife artist Claude Thivierge continues his collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mint. In 2024, he signed the Reflets de la faune coin series, made up of three silver coins featuring local animals: grizzly bears, cougars and moose. Interview with the artist.
Île-aux-Tourtes bridge completely closed this weekend
A new complete closure of the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge is scheduled from Friday March 15 at 11:59 pm to Monday March 18 at 5 am. This closure is required for preparatory work to build the approaches to the new Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.
Hunt for Commies at Saint-Lazare on Saturday, March 30
On Saturday, March 30, Ville de Saint-Lazare will be holding a Coconut Hunt at Parc-nature Les Forestiers. Residents and non-residents alike are welcome on site between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to take part in this fun activity.
A major event in aviation history told in Hudson
The Hudson Creative Centre invites aviation and history lovers this Monday, March 18, at 273 Main Street in Hudson to attend a conference to mark the 40th anniversary of the Gimli glider. From 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., attendees will hear details of Captain Pearson in conversation with aviators John Lawson and Clint Ward, followed by questions from the audience. There will also be a surprise guest.
Annick Gauvreau's arts conference at Cité-des-Jeunes
On March 9, Annick Gauvreau gave a talk at the Musée d'art de Rouyn-Noranda on her unique artistic journey. The Coteau-du-Lac multi-disciplinary artist will deliver the same lecture this Thursday, March 14, to students in Nancy Lépine's Arts-études class at the Cité-des-jeunes (Arts-études ESCJ).
A new director arrives at Tel-Aide, Suroît region
The Tel-Aide listening center, Suroît region, and its Board of Directors, announce the appointment of Ms. Marie-Claude Gareau as Director. Ms. Gareau, a clinical sexologist by training, developed and directed the L'Accueil pour Elle organization for 32 years.

Some 2.2 kilometers of fencing will be erected along the Canadian Pacific rail line in Saint-Lazare. The announcement was made this Wednesday by Transport Minister and Quebec Lieutenant Pablo Rodriguez, Vaudreuil-Soulanges MP Peter Schiefke and Saint-Lazare Mayor Geneviève Lachance.

The Société de récupération des appareils commerciaux (SORAC) and the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges have signed an agreement to recover commercial and institutional freezer and refrigeration appliances at the MRC's ecocentres in Vaudreuil-Dorion and Rigaud, in accordance with current environmental standards.

Marie-Claude Nichols denounces historic $11-billion deficit
The independent MP for Vaudreuil, Marie-Claude Nichols, denounces the historic $11B deficit announced this week by the CAQ government. The MP, who was a member of the previous government that left a generous $7 billion surplus in the government coffers in 2018, after contributions to the Generations Fund, finds it hard to understand why the Legault government has lost control of public finance management to such an extent. The situation will have long-term consequences for Quebec.

On Thursday, March 14, the Commerces-secours project, first deployed as a pilot project in Suroît businesses in 2021, launched its new website and distinctive new visual signature. This will enable victims to quickly and easily identify participating businesses.
