Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days. 

Montérégie-Ouest's first baby of the year is a girl

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de la Montérégie-Ouest is pleased to announce the first baby of the year born in Montérégie-Ouest, on January 1, 2024, at 2:45 a.m. 

Fatbike rental at Pointe-des-Cascades nature park

Winter biking, also known as Fatbike, will be in the spotlight this winter in the Pointe-des-Cascades nature park. In January, February and March, you'll be able to rent one for a spin and enjoy the pleasures of the cold season. 

A knockout photo exhibition presented in L'Île-Perrot

From January 9 to February 11, the Guy-Godin library in L'Île-Perrot will host an exhibition by Vaudreuil-Soulanges-based Groupe Passion Photo (GPP), featuring a dozen local photographers.

Forty-year-old wanted on arrest warrant

The Sexual Assault Section of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is asking for the public's help in locating Michel Lecavalier, 48. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault with a deadly weapon. 

Zamboni and technical building, two beautiful additions to Quatre-Saisons Park

Shortly before the holiday school break, Ville de Saint-Zotique took delivery of the Zamboni used to maintain its refrigerated skating rink at Parc Quatre-Saisons. The Zamboni has revolutionized ice maintenance, reducing the amount of time spent on maintenance and offering more fun on the rink. 

Vaudreuil-Dorion skater featured at 2024 Canadian National Skating Championships

Figure skating's elite from across Canada are set to converge on Calgary, Alberta's WinSport Arena for the 2024 Canadian National Skating Championships, to be held January 8-14, 2024. Among the athletes taking part will be the skating duo with roots in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps. 

New members for Rigaud, Saint-Zotique and L'Île-Perrot fire departments

In recent weeks, three changes have taken place within the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Fire Department. Here's a summary of the situation. 

Major changes to collection days in Vaudreuil-Dorion

The awarding of a new contract will bring a number of changes to collection days in Vaudreuil-Dorion, starting in January 2024. At the same time, the numerical naming of sectors has been revised to avoid confusion with districts. Sectors are now named by letters rather than numbers (1 becomes A, 2 becomes B and so on).

New route on the Hudson-Montreal line starting Monday

Starting this Monday, two additional train circuits will be added to the Hudson-Montreal line to alleviate the current situation on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge in Vaudreuil-Dorion. 

Saint-Zotique native acquired by the Valleyfield Braves

The Valleyfield Braves of the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League announce, through General Manager David Rochon, a transaction with the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the Central Canadian Hockey League.

A training camp in Colombia and a World Championship appearance for Justin Lafleur

Barely underway, the year 2024 is shaping up to be a fun one for young BMX athlete Justin Lafleur. The 13-year-old Coteau-du-Lac resident will be flying to Colombia in the next few hours, in addition to taking part in the World Championships in May.
