Cultural contamination: a successful 2023 edition
On Thursday, October 19, the Conseil des Arts et de la Culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges invited the artists and partners of Contamination culturelle 2023 to celebrate the success of this unifying project, which has been presented in Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Beauharnois-Salaberry since last April.
The closing event took place at the Guy-Godin library in L'Île-Perrot, in the presence of participating artists, elected municipal officials and organizers.
The evening was an opportunity to recognize and underline the important collaboration of the production partners, instrumental to the success of a project of this scale.
The exceptional work of curator Karine Landerman was highlighted, as was that of the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges team, who designed and produced 2,500 turnkey art kits, offered free of charge to schools in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Beauharnois-Salaberry regions.
One last chance to see the exhibition
The public is invited to discover the three circuits of the Contamination culturelle exhibition until November 19 at the following locations:
- Circuit des Plaines: Parc des Abris 403, chemin Saint-Louis, Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, J0S 1S0;
- Circuit des Berges: Adjacent to the new aquatic complex behind the Guy-Godin library, 120, boulevard Perrot, Île-Perrot, J7V 3G1;
- Circuit des Collines: Heritage building, 615, route 201, Saint-Clet, J0P 1S0.
Six artistic events
Another new feature of this year's edition was the deployment of artistic events. These events, which are free and open to the public, provide an opportunity for visitors to discover the exhibition and talk with local artists.
As such, the final artistic event of Contamination culturelle 2023 will take place on Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m. at the Guy-Godin library on Île-Perrot. For the occasion, people are invited to take part in a playful artistic encounter, combining theater and poetry, presented by artists Marie-Belle Ouellet and Natacha Marleau.
"Thank you to the 33 artists who took part in the various components of Contamination culturelle 2023. It's an honor for us to carry out projects that showcase your art and raise the profile of our region at the same time," says Nadine Maltais, General Manager of the CACVS.
"The presence of this exhibition, "tailor-made" for our territories, has enhanced the cultural offering of the municipalities hosting it. At the same time, it showcased the talent of our artists and energized the living environment of our region's citizens," adds Julie Lemieux, President of the CACVS and Mayor of Très-Saint-Rédempteur.
Jean-François Gendron, representative of the Comité de la culture de la MRC de Beauharnois-Salaberry and mayor of Saint-Stanislas-de-Kotska, also summed up the event. "At the end of a major exhibition presented at 21 sites, I conclude that its success is due not only to the talent of our artists, but also to a strong partnership between two regions that share common ambitions in terms of cultural development. Once again, I salute the work of the Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and thank them for inviting our artists and municipalities to join in this wonderful adventure. "
