Fire on Harwood Boulevard: construction work may be to blame
Exterior work involving machinery may be to blame for the fire that broke out earlier this Wednesday, February 26, at 64 boulevard Harwood in Vaudreuil-Dorion. At around 12:10 p.m., firefighters from the local brigade received a call reporting flames on the front of the building.
“We asked the Sûreté du Québec and paramedics to help us evacuate the Manoir des Îles next door, as black smoke was heading towards the residence. According to my information, three people were inconvenienced and treated on site by paramedics. No one was transported to hospital. Residents were able to return to the premises in the last few minutes, after the building had been inspected to ensure that everything was in order. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The blaze caused only material damage,” sums up Jacques Fellis, Chief of Operations for the Vaudreuil-Dorion Fire Department.
In addition to the local brigade, Pincourt sappers were also seen on site. A team from Saint-Lazare also provided fire station coverage of the territory in the event of a double call. In all, some thirty firefighters were present at this incident.
Traffic may be difficult on the highway due to the intervention, and a power outage is still in progress in the area for more than 2,000 customers.
