In Rigaud, Pointe-Fortune and Très-Saint-Rédempteur
Café de la Débrouille's Guignolée 2024 to be held this weekend
Café de la Débrouille, a food bank that helps the residents of Pointe-Fortune, Rigaud and Très-Saint-Rédempteur, is encouraging the public to show their generosity this weekend during its Guignolée 2024. Donations will be collected on November 23 and 24, while registration for those wishing to receive food aid will take place on Tuesday, November 26.
Non-perishable, unopened or opened foodstuffs can be brought by residents of the three communities to the parking lot of Rigaud's IGA Déziel (461 chemin de la Grande-Ligne) or to the Café de la Débrouille (19 rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste) at the following times:
- Saturday, November 23, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m;
- Sunday, November 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m;
Pointe-Fortune and Très-Saint-Rédempteur residents will also be able to bring their donations closer to home, at the following locations and times:
Pointe-Fortune: Town Hall (694 rue Tisseur) this Saturday, November 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m;
Très-Saint-Rédempteur : Centre sociocommunautaire ( 808 route Principale) this Saturday from 10am to 4pm;
Not available on these days? Not a problem, as food can be left at Café de la Débrouille, IGA Déziel and Jean Coutu de Rigaud in a designated box until December 14.
What types of foodstuffs can be donated? Condiments such as mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup or olives. Canned meals (beef, meat, chicken), meat sauce for pasta, diced tomatoes, legumes, fruit or vegetable juices, Knorr pasta, ramen, Nutella, jam, cereals, coffee, crackers, candies, chocolates and dishwashing soap are popular items. Feminine hygiene products are also welcome.
Cash donations can be dropped off in specially marked containers at the following stores: IGA Déziel and Jean Coutu in Rigaud until December 14. They can also be handed in at the collection points or sent by mail. Interac transfers are also accepted. Charitable receipts will be issued for donations of $50 or more. Finally, to register and receive donations from the Guignolée, you'll need to come to the Café de la Débrouille on Tuesday, November 26, between 6pm and 8pm. Two proofs of residence, one with photo, will be required. Supporting documents may be required for validation purposes.
Registrations will not be accepted over the phone or at Rigaud, Pointe-Fortune and Très-Saint-Rédempteur town halls.
