The Centre de la petite enfance Le Coin des lutins 2, located at 170 rue de Beaujeu in Coteau-du-Lac, will be undergoing expansion work over the coming months. Once completed, the facility, which is located in front of École primaire de l'Éclusière, will be able to accommodate an additional 100 children, including 20 infants.

Mayor Andrée Brosseau unveiled the news at the town council meeting on Tuesday, November 12. The project to build this new daycare center, which would be integrated into the existing facilities, is the subject of a PPCMOI application, which stands for Projet particulier de construction, de modification ou d'occupation d'un immeuble.

During the public meeting, a few details about the project were revealed by the mayor. "The maximum height of the building will be 9.74 metres, or approximately two storeys. An exterior staircase will be installed in the rear yard. A 1.3-meter buffer zone will surround the property. There will be 22 parking spaces with a distance of 1.5 meters between them in the rear yard. A hedge 1.2 metres high at planting will also be installed. The space between each cedar must be kept to a minimum," explained Town Clerk Chantal Paquette at the meeting.

An information session on the entire project will be held on Thursday, November 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Pavillon Wilson in Coteau-du-Lac.
