Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m., the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges invites the general public to enjoy an immersive experience during its De toutes les couleurs benefit evening.

Inspired by the Un bardeau pour toit/toi (2017) and De nouEs à vous (2022) projects, the Musée team returns this year with De toutes les couleurs, featuring exhibition panels recovered and showcased by nearly 100 visual artists, mainly from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

A deeply animated medium of art

In autumn 2023, to provide more storage space for school groups in the Salle Guy-Mauffette, dedicated to the visual arts, the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges replaced certain exhibition panels. The walls were carefully reclaimed for this change, which was carried out with sustainable management in mind.

Since the early 2000s, these wooden partitions have seen it all! Previously, depending on the artists' whims, the removable walls were repainted almost every time they were shown: sunshine yellow, candy pink, anthracite grey or any other color of their choice. Like the rings on the stump of a tree trunk, the layers of paint have marked time on these panels, which have been used to hang thousands of works of art over the years.

The panels served as a canvas for the artists who, inspired by the layers of paint, created unique works, each telling a story and reflecting the diversity and cultural richness of the community. The artists used a variety of techniques, from painting to wood engraving, sculpture and collage, to transform the panels into true masterpieces.

Supporting the Museum's mission

The aim of this cultural evening is not only to bring back to life these witnesses to past exhibitions, but also to raise funds for the Musée, as some 100 works will be put up for silent auction at a starting price of $150. These funds will help further the Museum's educational mission and enhance services for young people.

For each work sold, $50 will be donated to the artist who created it. The balance will be donated to the Museum. Sold works can be picked up between November 19 and 24. Thereafter, unsold works will be displayed in the multi-purpose room and available for purchase. A photo album of all the creations will also be shared on the Museum's Facebook page and website.
