Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: another closure this Friday
The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable wishes to inform road users that the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, linking Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion on Highway 40 (Félix-Leclerc), will be completely closed to traffic over the coming weekend, from November 1 to 4.
This closure is required to carry out marking work and modify the lane configuration, in preparation for the reopening of a fourth traffic lane. This is planned for the end of the year, when work to reinforce the existing bridge is sufficiently advanced. The Ministry wishes to carry out these interventions now, in order to take advantage of more favourable weather conditions for the durability of the marking.
Closures scheduled from Friday, November 1, at 11:59 p.m. to Monday, November 4, at 5 a.m:
- Complete closure of Autoroute 40 westbound between Exit 41 - Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue/Boul. des Anciens-Combattants/ Autoroute 20 westbound/Île Perrot and the entrance from avenue Saint-Charles.
- In the westbound direction, access to chemin Senneville will be maintained for users travelling to this area.
- Complete closure of eastbound Autoroute 40 between Exit 35 - Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac/Vaudreuil-Dorion/Av. St-Charles and the entrance from boulevard des Anciens-Combattants.
- The ramp leading from Autoroute 40 to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be closed at the Autoroute 30 interchange. Users are invited to use autoroutes 20 and 30 instead.
At the end of these complete closures, on Monday November 4 at 5 a.m., a total of three lanes will be available on the bridge, including two Montreal-bound lanes for the morning rush hour, thanks to dynamic traffic management.
Detour routes will be marked with temporary signage.
During this closure, the public is invited to use public transit and take advantage of the mitigation measures in effect due to the obstructions at the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge. In addition, tolls will be suspended in both directions on Autoroute 30 to provide an additional alternative. The Ministry advises road users who will have to travel in the area to allow extra time to reach their destination.
Work may be postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions or operational constraints. Before taking to the road, we recommend that you consult Québec 511, a practical tool for planning your travel.
