The MNA for Soulanges, Marilyne Picard, announces the allocation of 11 new family doctors to the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, as part of the new regional medical staffing plans (PREM) for the year 2025. They are among the 458 doctors added to Quebec, distributed to better meet the needs of patients.

As Minister Christian Dubé announced, these new PREM will again be subject to relaxations to enhance family medicine and attract more new doctors to the region.

"I am so happy to see the people in our region have better access to healthcare, starting at the front line. The new doctors assigned will directly contribute to this accessibility for the benefit of the citizens in our region. I thank Minister Dubé and his teams for their commitment to making lasting changes, here as elsewhere in Quebec," said Marilyne Picard.

More predictability, flexibility, and adaptability

Starting this year, the regional departments of general medicine (DRMG), responsible for the implementation of regional medical staffing plans, will gain more predictability and flexibility through two-year planning. Until now, this planning was done on an annual basis.

Thanks to the relaxations announced this year and last year, the DRMG will receive faster responses to their requests concerning their region through a simplification of the administrative process. This will help reduce current delays that can sometimes lead to candidates withdrawing after accepting an offer elsewhere in the meantime.

Also, starting from the PREM 2025, all requests for penalty exemptions from the DRMG made to the joint committee responsible for the PREM will be immediately supported by the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) when they concern sub-territories of the same DRMG, in order to provide more agility in regional management, a concrete example of local management.

"Our goal is to better respond to the needs of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, as for each of the other regions. What we want is to make the practice of family medicine more attractive for future family doctors. With such changes, we will see the regional landscape improve considerably, both for the staff and for patients. We are adapting to the current reality of each community and we will continue our reflections in this direction in the coming months," said Minister Dubé.
