Highway 20: The CAQ refuses to consider the petition
The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) will not study the petition signed by over 16,000 petitioners calling for the completion of Highway 20 between Île Perrot and Vaudreuil-Dorion. At least, that's what Vaudreuil MNA Marie-Claude Nichols confirmed on her social networks.
“My request was simple: that our commission listen to groups and stakeholders in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region regarding the completion of Highway 20. I repeat, the quality of life, but above all the safety, of our citizens is at stake, and there are SOLUTIONS!!!! The government could have, at the very least, shown understanding and openness towards the citizens of Vaudreuil and Soulanges,” indicated the MNA.
MNA Nichols, who has made this issue one of her hobbyhorses over the past few years, was very impressed by the hard work of e-petition instigator Amandine Lengelé and the group of people who launched the paper petition at the initiative of Odette Lalonde, an involved citizen from her riding.
Signed by over 16,200 citizens, it was tabled at the National Assembly on September 12. The MNA agreed to act as sponsor of the petition, a necessary step before it could be tabled at the National Assembly.
At the time of writing, the Caquist MNA for Soulanges, Marilyne Picard, had not yet commented on the decision.
