At the start of the 2024-2025 season
Silver for Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps
The reigning world champion pair duo of Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps kicked off their 2024-2025 season this weekend at the Challenger Series Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany. He won the silver medal for Canada, demonstrating his potential for another excellent season.
Stellato-Dudek, from Chicago (USA), and Deschamps, from Vaudreuil-Dorion (Quebec), skated two new programs: their short program, featuring a new version of Beyoncé's “Crazy in Love”, which earned them third place (72.42), and their free program, accompanied by a medley of songs, which propelled the team to second place (133.82), with a total score of 206.42 to kick off the season.
The pair spoke to Skate Canada as they left the ice. “We got off to a fairly late start this season because we had a lot of shows in the spring, so we had to prepare differently this year,” explains Deschamps, who, along with Stellato-Dudek, took part in the Stars on Ice tour of Japan and Canada from late March to May, and did so after winning the World Championships in Montreal. “That's where we are at this point in the season, and we're really happy with what we've done here.”
The next stop on the Challenger Series circuit will be the Denis Ten Memorial, to be held October 3-6, 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
