His dangerous driving earns him a 60-day prison sentence
Vaudreuil-Dorion resident Stéphane Ladouceur pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving before Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud at the Valleyfield courthouse on Friday, September 20.
The charges against the accused occurred on July 17, 2020, when he drove a vehicle in an unsafe manner without due regard for the safety of others. “He was seen driving a car across the lanes of the highway. Among other things, he hit a guard rail. The officers who intercepted him did not observe any symptoms of impaired ability in the accused,” informed defence lawyer Me Lefebvre.
The Crown prosecutor, Me Hélène Langis, told the Tribunal that Mr. Ladouceur had a varied background. The most recent dates back to 2014. In addition, the accused has pending cases at the Palais de justice de Montréal.
In this case, the lawyers involved submitted a joint suggestion to the judge, namely a sentence of 60 days' detention consecutive to any other sentence. This was accompanied by two years' probation, during which time Mr. Ladouceur would have to comply with various conditions.Ladouceur must comply with various conditions.These include keeping the peace, keeping the peace, responding to court summonses and refraining from drug use except with a duly obtained medical prescription, as well as not possessing any drugs on his person.The Tribunal also imposed an 18-month driving prohibition.
Mr. Ladouceur told the Court that he has not held a driver's licence for the past three years, having failed to renew it.
