Saint-Lazare resident fined $3,500 for drinking and driving

Saint-Lazare resident Loretta Maria Bucci pleaded guilty to a charge of impaired driving before Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud on Friday, September 20. 

Since this was her second offence of impaired driving, she was fined $3,500. “I hope you know how lucky you are, because as a general rule, the law imposes a minimum of 30 days in prison for a second offence. If you come back before the court for a third time on the same charges, you'll certainly receive a firm prison sentence,” the judge told the accused. 

Ms. Bucci has two years to pay the fine in full. “A two-year prohibition from driving any motor vehicle in Canada is also imposed by the Court,” he added, before asking the accused to surrender her driver's licence to the Court.
