A new parliamentary commission for Marilyne Picard
September 10 marked the return of our MNAs to the National Assembly. For the MNA for Soulanges, Marilyne Picard, this new parliamentary year got off to a flying start.
In addition to sitting in the Salon rouge due to renovation work in the Salon bleu, MNA Picard will be actively involved in the study of Bill 66.
“I have the privilege of sitting on a new health and social services committee. We will be studying Bill 66, which aims to strengthen the follow-up of people living with mental health problems and who comment on crimes. With this bill, we want to ensure better follow-up with the police, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, the CIUSSS and the CISSS to break down barriers and really help people in need,” the MP confided to Néomédia.
Marilyne Picard will also be working on the Action Plan for Caregivers. “There's still a year to go before the Action Plan is implemented. So I'll be working to ensure that all the measures are met within the prescribed timeframe,” she added.
Locally, Marilyne Picard will continue to follow up on the Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital and the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.
“For the hospital, I'll continue to monitor the project and ensure that the schedule is respected. As for the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, I'm going to make sure that there's cohesion between the various stakeholders and that there are no delays in construction. I'll also be monitoring the Mont Rigaud trust file, since a new resource has joined the team. And, of course, I'll be continuing my meetings with the Soulanges mayors.“
And Highway 20? “The work table is still hard at work. As we all know, expropriations were carried out a long time ago, including south of the railroad line in Vaudreuil-Dorion. Since then, there has been new vegetation. It's important to re-evaluate everything and make sure the plan is still up to date. Even though the bypass project in Vaudreuil-Dorion is not in my riding, I know that it has a major impact on the citizens of Soulanges. We need to assess the impacts, including the financial ones. Quebec City isn't there yet,” she concludes.
