Based on the financial report as at December 31, 2023, the Town of Pincourt ended the year with an operating surplus for tax purposes of $4,321,135. According to the report prepared by BCGO S.E.N.C.R.L., the consolidated financial statements present fairly the financial position of the Town of Pincourt as at December 31, 2023, as well as the results of its operations for the year then ended.

Once again this year, and despite the uncertainty in the real estate market, the surplus is mainly due to additional revenues from transfer duties, high interest income and various budget savings.

As at December 31, 2023, the Town had unrestricted accumulated surplus of $5,791,148 and unconsolidated debt of $26,699,300. This debt is financed by grants, available balances, restricted surplus and sector taxes for a total of $11,314,285, and by general taxation for $15,385,015.

“As mentioned last year, we promised to put in place some fine projects for the community, and we've kept our word by delivering, among other things, the basketball court, tree planting and numerous interventions on the road network. Next year, we'll be back to deliver new projects, including phase 2 of the pickleball courts, upgrades to sports fields and road infrastructure repairs,” says Mayor Claude Comeau.

As elsewhere in Quebec, the scarcity of manpower in 2023 once again forced the various municipal departments to modify their way of doing things, while maintaining the same level of service to citizens.

“I would like to congratulate all our employees for maintaining excellent service to the population. Their dedication was particularly remarkable during the ice storm of April 2023, when they worked tirelessly to restore the situation and ensure the safety of our citizens. I'm very proud of our entire team for their commitment and resilience,” concluded the mayor.
