Club Optimiste Vaudreuil-Dorion
Soap box race postponed from September 7 to 14 in Vaudreuil-Dorion
The Club Optimiste Vaudreuil-Dorion has just postponed its short soap box race scheduled for September 7. Unfortunately, as Georges Verboomen, who is in charge of the event, informs us, due to the closure of the Île aux Tourtes bridge on September 7 and 8, the Club is obliged to postpone the 14th edition of its race until September 14. The start will be at the corner of rue Chicoine and rang Saint-Antoine in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
As Georges Verboomen explains, parents of children already registered will be informed by e-mail of the date change. There are still a few places available, and interested parties can register on the Club's web page via this link: https://www.optimistevaudreuil-dorion.com/. Registration will start at 8 a.m. at the race site on September 14. For further information, please call Georges Verboomen at 514-895-7940.
Each registered child must bring his or her own helmet on race day. Cars are provided by Club Optimiste. On race day, children or their parents must bring $5 as a participation fee. T-shirts and medals will be awarded to all participants. Winners in each category will receive a trophy. An on-site canteen will provide all youngsters with a hot dog and juice after the race.
Soapbox racing is a dynamic activity designed to support young people. It's a chance for young people to surpass themselves and enjoy a new, enriching and fun experience. Participants pilot identical cars, provided by the Club Optimiste de Vaudreuil-Dorion, overcoming their fears and opening up to new activities.
This day offers a special opportunity to surpass oneself in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, while creating a strong sense of community. Through this initiative, Club Optimiste fosters the personal development of young people and reinforces the spirit of camaraderie.
