On the premises of the Town Hall on rue Dutrisac
Cégep de Valleyfield: an expansion of the Vaudreuil-Dorion Study Centre is on the horizon
The Centre d'études du Cégep de Valleyfield has been present in the Vaudreuil-Dorion area for almost 30 years, and is now preparing to expand even further. By the end of 2024, the school will occupy the premises of Vaudreuil-Dorion City Hall on rue Dutrisac.
It should be remembered that in the coming months, the municipal administration will be leaving the premises at 2555, which it has occupied for a long time, to move into the municipal hub, located near the Centre Multisports André-Chagnon.
As a result, the Cégep de Valleyfield will be able to take advantage of this vacant space. “We're well established in Vaudreuil-Dorion, and we're delighted to be taking over the space that the city will be leaving behind. This will enable us to offer a program map focused on health and social services as early as fall 2025. Our goal is to make the Centre d'études de Vaudreuil-Dorion similar to the one in Saint-Constant,” explains Cégep de Valleyfield general manager Marc Rémillard.
To date, the Cégep de Valleyfield is in the process of finalizing plans to maximize the use of its new space. Renovation work will get underway to welcome the first students next fall.
Health and social services at the heart of the course grid
Once the expansion is complete, the Centre d'études de Vaudreuil-Dorion will have a capacity of 300 students.
By the start of the 2025 school year, the facility will welcome 150 students enrolled in one of the following programs:
- Nursing;
- Physiotherapy techniques;
- Special education techniques;
- Human sciences;
In winter 2026, nursing training for local nurses will be added to this course offering.
A press conference to unveil the broad outlines of this project will be held in October. More details on the project will be unveiled at that time.
