7.5 million for the new Coteaux fire station
The municipality of Les Coteaux has been granted a $7,558,200 financial contribution for the construction of a building to house the fire station and municipal garage. The MNA for Soulanges, Marilyne Picard, made the announcement on Monday on behalf of the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Andrée Laforest.
“I'm proud that the Quebec government is stepping in here, in Les Coteaux, to help the municipality better meet its needs. The new building, which will house the municipal garage and fire station, will improve working conditions for personnel and thus ensure the quality of services offered to citizens,” she emphasized.
The two departments will be housed in a new 1,190 square metre building. The municipal garage will include seven garage doors, workshops, tool and equipment storage, enclosed offices and a number of utility rooms upstairs.
The fire station will feature six garage doors, a hose tower, a room for washing and drying equipment, a locker room and space for self-contained breathing apparatus.
On the upper floor, there will be enclosed offices and various rooms, including one for training. Two multi-purpose rooms will also be set up in the building to meet emergency coordination needs.
“Thanks to the vital support of the Quebec government, this project is finally coming to fruition. The new fire station and municipal garage will strengthen our ability to respond to emergencies, given the modern facilities. I warmly thank the government for this considerable contribution, and I'm proud of the work accomplished by our municipal team. This investment reflects our commitment to the safety and well-being of our citizens, as well as our determination to prepare our community for future challenges,” concluded Sylvain Brazeau, the municipality's mayor.
