Elected officials also ask MTQMD to lower speeds in the area
Chemin de Lotbinière: Vaudreuil-Dorion would like to ban overtaking
Vaudreuil-Dorion District 1 Councillor Luc Marsan spoke on behalf of his elected colleagues at the regular meeting of the Vaudreuil-Dorion Council on Monday, August 12, to submit a request to the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable. The request concerns pavement marking on Route De Lotbinière (Route 338).
“Considering that two serious accidents, one of which resulted in a fatality, occurred there during overtaking maneuvers, and taking into account the speed of the stretch and the seriousness of the incidents, we are asking the MTQMD to add a double line on the roadway to prohibit overtaking. In addition, the town's traffic committee and elected officials would like to see the speed limit in this sector lowered to 70 km/h, as on several other municipal sections of similar configuration,” he declared.
A copy of the resolution adopted by the elected officials will be forwarded to the provincial authority for consideration. A response should be sent to the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion within the next few months.
