From August 2 to 5, the Town of Hudson will be vibrating to the sounds of the 18th edition of the Festival de musique, which promises once again to provide spectators with an unforgettable experience. On Tuesday, July 9, the organizers of this not-to-be-missed summer event unveiled the program at the Microbrasserie Cardinal. 

It's sure to be a celebration of diverse musical traditions, featuring emerging, established and home-grown talent from the small, country-like community nestled in the heart of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

Free programming and paying concerts  

In addition to paying shows for interested music fans, free performances will take place on the Hudson Music Festival stage in the Dépanneur Shaar parking lot on Saturday, August 3, from 1 pm to 10 pm. 

"The Music Festival is one of the three events that attract the most visitors to our beautiful community every year, and we're very proud of it. Every year, we make every effort to offer quality concerts to visitors. We're proud to be part of the community's cultural heritage and to foster community spirit, while providing a platform for established and emerging artists from here and abroad," says Blair MacKay, the event's artistic director.

Friday, August 2: 

- Tom Waits by Songs from a Dunken Piano: A tribute to the legendary Tom Waits by a group of versatile musicians from the Ottawa-Gatineau region. At 7:30 p.m. at the Alibi Barn (422 Main St.) - $35 taxes included per ticket; 

Saturday, August 3rd:

- Hudson Community Stage Review: Featuring the Mighty House Band with the Mumbo Gumbo Horns and an appearance by the Hudson Community Choir with special guest Tim Walsh. At 1 p.m. on the Festival stage at Dépanneur Shaar (Main St., corner Cameron St.). Free event. 

- Zale Seck Ensemble: Senegalese artist Zale Seck and his band deliver a vibrant performance blending Afrobeat, rumba and traditional Senegalese rhythms like mbalax. At 3 p.m., on the Festival stage at Dépanneur Shaar (Main St., corner Cameron St.) - Free event.

- Aaron Wylder: Mix of indie rock, folk, Americana and alt country. Originally from the Cayman Islands, Aaron Wylder is a Canadian singer-songwriter. He divides his time between Victoria and Montreal. He'll be opening for Shane Murphy on the main stage. 7 p.m., on the Festival stage at Dépanneur Shaar (Main St., corner Cameron St.) - Free event.

Shane Murphy: In celebration of the release of his fifth studio album "Easy Street", he brings a rock'n'roll and soul experience to the stage. 8 p.m., on the Festival stage at Dépanneur Shaar (Main St., corner Cameron St.) - Free event. 

Sunday, August 4: 

Hilario Durãn Trio: Cuban-Canadian piano master pays tribute to the legendary Oscar Peterson. At 7:30 p.m. at the Hudson Creative Hub (273 Main St.) - $35 taxes included per ticket.  

Monday August 5: 

Joel Quarrington: Canadian double bass solo virtuoso performs works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Mieczyslaw Weinberg. At 7:30 p.m. at the Hudson Creative Hub (273 Main St.) - $35 taxes included per ticket.  

Musical happy hours to get you in the mood

Visitors interested in prolonging their enjoyment of the Festival de musique can do so by taking part in musical 5 à 7s preceding the concerts in the program. 

On August 2, Pat Loiselle will be on hand at Microbrasserie Cardinal. The following day, it's Carlos Candido's turn to get the beer lovers on their feet. On August 4, Hudson trio Ditch Flowers will entertain guests. 

On August 3, Hudson's Fairhaven Band will perform at Château du Lac at 10 p.m. for late-nighters. 

Jason-Michael Comtois of Desjardins, who was on hand, was delighted to take part in the event. "We've been supporting the Festival financially for 16 years. It's a pleasure for us to continue this partnership, which allows us to strengthen our presence in the Hudson community," he commented.
