After winning the Stanley Cup with the Las Vegas Golden Knights in 2023, former Bourget Voltigeurs William Carrier agreed to a change of address in recent days. The athlete will now play for the Carolina Hurricanes, with whom he has signed a six-year contract that will pay him a tidy sum of $12 million in total.

This means that the 29-year-old's bank account will grow by an average of $2 million per season. The near-thirtysomething attended Rigaud's Collège Bourget from 2006 to 2008. At a sports gala held on June 5, 2017, he was inducted into the Voltigeurs de Bourget Hall of Fame.

He took advantage of the ceremony to remind young people of the importance of hard work and perseverance for an athlete.

The left-winger began his junior career with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 2012, he won a medal at the World Under-18 Championship.

In 2013, William Carrier was selected 57th overall in the second round by the St. Louis Blues. In 2014, he moved to Buffalo to join the Sabres. He played his first pro season in 2014-2015, wearing the colors of the Rochester Americans, that team's training club.

Then, in September 2017, the Vegas Golden Knights officially entered the National Hockey League. He was drafted by Gérard Gallant's team on June 21 of the same year. Even though he was injured at the time of his selection, he helped his team reach the Stanley Cup Final in his first year against the Washington Capitals, to whom his team lost in five games.
