The Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CCIVS) took advantage of its season-closing 5 à 7 to launch its latest project, the BroueFest, the very first beer festival in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, to be held on August 1, 2 and 3 at Vaudreuil-Dorion's Parc Le 405.

The 5 à 7, held once again at the Vignoble de Pomone in Coteau-du-Lac, enabled some 40 people from the business world to network while sampling the winery's products.

"We're very proud, as a Chamber of Commerce, to be behind this project. You might wonder why a chamber of commerce would take on such a project for the general public, rather than the corporate one we're used to. There are several reasons. Firstly, through a festival like this, we're encouraging local businesses, i.e. people who are members of the CCIVS. We're going to give them some visibility, create some goodwill. It's also part of our role to participate in the economic development of the whole region. An event like this is really important in that sense, because we'll be raising the profile of the region. People from outside the region will come and discover our event and, by the same token, our region", said CCIVS General Manager Mathieu Miljours.

A total of nine microbreweries, including four from Vaudreuil-Soulanges, will be present at this first edition of BroueFest. These include Perrodam, Cardinal, La microbrasserie Trois-Lacs and Schoune.

Tastings and shows

In addition to beer tastings, festival-goers will be able to take advantage of Le 404 park, which will be animated throughout the festivities. Street trucks will be on site, as will a bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments.

BroueFest opens with a comedy show on August 1, featuring Rachelle Elie, Martin Lauzon and Richardson Zéphir on stage at Le 405. For music lovers, The Bounty Hunter will be on hand on August 2, while the Blue Ridge Band will close out the festivities on August 3.

"Everyone is welcome, families too. There will be entertainment by both the CCIVS and the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion," adds Mr. Miljours.

Finally, from July 2 to July 23, the CCIVS will be offering pre-sales of Ecocups bearing the BroueFest logo. These will be used for tastings during the event. Available in presale for $10, the Ecocup comes with a free drink. You can reserve your glass at brouefest.ca. Pick-up locations will be announced shortly.

Ecocups will also be on sale on site for $15.
