The Fête nationale will be celebrated in Rigaud on June 24, starting at 9 a.m. As tradition dictates, the Club Optimiste Rigaud's traditional soapbox race will open the ball from 9 a.m. to noon. According to Rock Rousseau, responsible for the Club Optimiste, 7- to 12-year-olds can still take part if they wish. Registration is available on the Ville de Rigaud website at www.ville.rigaud.qc.ca/activites-et-evenements/course-boites-savon.

The mass

Mass will be celebrated at Rigaud's Sainte-Madeleine church at 10 a.m., with a patriotic speech and raising of the Quebec flag.

The parade

Then it's on to the annual parade of organizations and companies, starting at 2 p.m. There's still time to take part. The form can be found on the Ville de Rigaud's main festivities page: www.ville.rigaud.qc.ca/activites-et-evenements/fete-nationale.

Call for volunteers
