The changeable weather that hit the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region this weekend didn't dampen the spirits of the troops involved in organizing the 32nd edition of the Seigneuriales de Vaudreuil-Dorion, held from June 6 to 9 on the grounds of the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Here's a look back at this popular event, which brings to life the days of New France.

"Despite the vagaries of the weather, we had one thing in common throughout our event: good humor, a spirit of cooperation, the involvement of volunteers and organizers, and lots of smiles. As an organizing committee, we've seen it all before. After all, it was the 32nd edition of the event this year. The feedback we've had so far has been rave reviews, and several merchants have told us how happy they were with their weekend,” sums up Christiane Lévesque, general manager of Seigneuriales de Vaudreuil-Dorion, the day after the event, which attracted thousands of visitors.

Everyone involved

Once again this year, Ms. Lévesque was able to count on the support of a team of dedicated and committed volunteers. "Everyone is at the service of the event and the people who make it up. They contribute to the success of the event year after year. They're people with heart. They all work very hard to ensure that festival-goers, merchants and artisans who participate in the festival have the best experience with us, and that this annual event is a resounding success,” she adds.

An event on the scale of Les Seigneuriales can't be organized in a few weeks, and requires the collaboration of many players in the community."We have once again delivered a fine project, despite the financial challenges and uncertain weather.Thank you to our partners, volunteers and service providers. It's a great team effort. For my part, my role is to find solutions when needed and make decisions when necessary, and to support the various teams on the ground who deploy themselves to ensure the smooth running and success of our event. Thank you to our festival-goers for coming out every year, come what may.We do this for them,” she notes.

Adaptability at the heart of event management

When you're in the events business, you need to be adaptable, a word with which Christiane Lévesque and her team are more than familiar."Faced with the uncertain weather on Sunday afternoon, we allowed the merchants and artisans, including the re-enactors, to start dismantling their displays as smoothly as possible.Re-enactors often carry products that are more sensitive to the vagaries of the weather, such as woollen garments, and we thought it would be respectful to allow them to start dismantling their booths a little early, so they wouldn't have to do it in the rain. Our team tries to be sensitive to situations like these,” she concludes.
