At an official ceremony held at the National Assembly on May 23, the Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, and the Minister of Higher Education, Pascale Déry, decorated the new members of the fifth class of the Ordre de l'excellence en éducation. Martine Arpin was one of them. She teaches at L'Orée-du-Bois elementary school in Saint-Lazare and lives in Coteau-du-Lac.

She has been eloquently conjugating the verb “to teach” for over 20 years. A committed teacher, she continued her training in New York to improve her teaching methods. Her wish: to make it easier for her students to learn to read and write. Wishing to share her skills beyond the walls of her classroom, she has multiplied communication channels and adapted several books to promote best practices in the French-speaking world and internationally. From the United States to Switzerland, via Belgium and Lebanon, her interventions know no borders!

Co-founder of a blog and newsletter, she sees distance learning as a great opportunity to inspire the educational community. Her role as president of the De mots et de craie organization and the popularity of the many television programs she participates in attest to the major influence she exerts in the education community.

As a consultant, speaker and trainer, she is cited as a benchmark for effective literacy teaching. In 2021, the children's author won the Prix Cécile-Gagnon from the Association des écrivains québécois pour la jeunesse. Ms. Arpin's words have the power to change the world.

The Ordre, whose motto is Their success, our duty, aims to:

- recognize the merit of people working in the field of education and higher education;

- recognize the significant local, regional or national contributions of those involved in the education system;

- contribute to the reputation of the education system.
