A luncheon conference to better understand the local housing crisis
On Wednesday, some 60 people attended a luncheon conference presented jointly by the Réseau d'éclaireurs de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the Comité logement de Vaudreuil-Soulanges on the theme of the housing crisis in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
Several representatives of community organizations were present, as well as a number of elected municipal officials.
The conference enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the housing situation, as well as the housing crisis in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Guest speakers included Manon Charest, General Manager of the Office régional de l'habitation de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (ORHVS), John Gladu, General Manager of l'Aiguillage, and Émilie Morasse from CISSSMO.
Representatives of various organizations, including Réseaux, Mon logement, mes droits, Hébergement la Passerelle, l'Arc-en-Ciel and l'Antichambre, also took the floor to present their services.
"Our organizations are mobilizing all their resources to help people looking for housing or temporary accommodation in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The housing crisis is hitting already vulnerable people hard, and is currently forcing new people to accept overpriced housing or end up on the streets. As a region, we need to innovate and find solutions to this urgent and worrying situation,” says Sébastien Legros, General Manager of the Corporation de développement communautaire de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and member of the Comité logement de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
