Weather alert
Severe thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Environment Canada, the weather forecasting agency, has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Suroît region on Thursday, June 6. According to the warning, between 20 and 40 millimeters of rain are expected in the region from this afternoon until Friday morning.
Conditions are conducive to the formation of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing strong gusts and torrential rain this afternoon and early this evening, the warning states.
Amounts could even exceed 50 millimetres under thunderstorms in a few hours or less. Torrential rains could cause flash flooding and water accumulation on roads, it warns.
Water sports activities could prove dangerous due to sudden, violent gusts of wind blowing over bodies of water.
Remember, when thunder rumbles, get indoors fast. A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when atmospheric conditions are conducive to the formation of thunderstorms that could be accompanied by at least one of the following: large hail, destructive winds or torrential rain.
