Dynamic traffic management: mitigation measures should have remained in place
Since May 27, dynamic traffic management on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge has been restored, much to the delight of motorists. That said, 78.7% of respondents to the Neomedia survey felt that the mitigation measures should have remained in place.
Without being the perfect solution, it must be admitted that it has greatly helped to improve local traffic, both in the morning and in the afternoon. That said, by reintroducing dynamic management, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable also put an end to certain mitigation measures, including free public transit, including the commuter train, and free access to eastbound Autoroute 30 during rush hour.
While the announcement of the return of one lane of traffic to Montreal during rush hour pleased many, the end of the mitigation measures disappointed others.
The situation inspired the poll question of the past two weeks: should mitigation measures be maintained despite the return of dynamic management on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge?
78.7% of respondents said yes. In fact, many had taken to social networks to challenge MTMD's decision to end free public transit.
Tied at 8.2%, respondents felt that free public transit should have been maintained, but not free Autoroute 30, and that dynamic traffic management should be in place on weekends.
Finally, 4.9% of participants considered it normal for MTMD to put an end to free transit now that dynamic traffic management is possible.
