Mobi-mat installation
A step closer to universal accessibility at Plage de Saint-Zotique
The Plage de Saint-Zotique is taking another step towards universal accessibility with the installation of a Mobi-mat mat that will enable people with reduced mobility or disabilities to enjoy the Beach.
Environmentally-friendly and remarkably effective, these semi-rigid mats made from recycled marine plastic unfold to create a flat path to the shoreline. The acquisition of this new installation was made possible by a sponsorship from Corona Canada and its project A Commitment to Accessible Paradise.
Corona Canada will also install Mobi-Chairs bathing chairs, floating amphibious chairs to help people get around in the water, as well as Mobi-Decks rigid access slabs and sturdy panels to create multi-purpose areas.
“Our installation will facilitate access to the beach with its ‘Mobi-mat’ carpet. An ecological and remarkably efficient mat, semi-rigid and made from recycled marine plastic, it unfolds to create a flat path to the lake. We've also acquired a “Mobi-Chairs” swimming chair, a floating amphibious chair to help people get around in the water, as well as “Mobi-Decks” rigid access slabs, sturdy panels for creating multi-purpose areas. As a result, everyone will be able to take full advantage of the beach, a unique facility in the region,” says Isabelle Dalcourt, Beach Manager.
Already in place, the new facilities will enable the entire population to enjoy the Plage de Saint-Zotique from the moment it opens on June 15.
