A summer of congestion for Vaudreuil-Soulange drivers
If summer's for playing, chances are it's traffic that's for motorists this summer.
Indeed, Vaudreuil-Soulanges is far from getting out of the highway slump that has been going on for several months now, as Mobilité Montréal announced on Wednesday that 44 construction sites will be open in the Greater Montreal area. Of these, at least three will inevitably impact the people of Vaudreuil-Soulange.
Not surprisingly, work on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will force several complete closures over several weekends during the summer. To give everyone a glimmer of hope, Mobilité Montréal is planning to reopen additional traffic lanes on the existing bridge by late fall 2024.
As for the implementation of dynamic traffic management allowing two lanes of traffic in the peak direction, nothing has been announced.
Once across the bridge, motorists can expect to cross another construction site, this time between Morgan Boulevard in Baie-D'Urfé and Saint-Charles Boulevard in Kirkland.
Until fall 2024, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable will be rebuilding the eastbound roadway in the area. With the exception of a few night-time closures, three lanes of traffic will be available at all times.
Finally, on Highway 20, maintenance work on the des Sources interchange will result in occasional overnight and long-term closures of the des Sources interchange ramps. This work will continue until the end of 2024.
