Luciano Minisini Burke, 18, accused of causing a fire at the Vaudreuil-Dorion Walmart on Tuesday, February 20, was back in Quebec court on Wednesday, May 8.  The brief appearance of the accused, who speaks only English, took place in front of his parents. 

The Hudson resident was arrested shortly after setting fire to the Boulevard de la Gare business, and faces two charges: causing damage by fire to property knowing that individuals were in the business, and causing damage by fire. 

His lawyer, Me. Jacklin Turcot indicated that his client was going through a difficult time during the commission of the crime, and that he had been deemed fit to appear and stand trial. To give him time to read the full report issued by the psychiatrist who assessed the accused, Me. Turcot requested a postponement of the case until July 17 for the pro forma inquiry. The accused, who remains in custody, will be brought back to the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on that date. 

Almost three months after the events, the Walmart store in Vaudreuil-Dorion is preparing for its official reopening on May 16.
