Soulanges Canal Park
Nearly $54,000 for active transportation infrastructure in Soulanges
As Bicycle Month gets underway across Quebec, Soulanges MNA Marilyne Picard has announced financial assistance of up to $54,310 for the Soulanges Canal Park, to help develop and consolidate the Route verte network and the regional cycling networks that run alongside it.
The funding, granted under the Programme d'aide aux infrastructures de transport actif (Véloce III), will be used to maintain the Route verte and its branches.
“The Soulanges Canal is one of our magnificent jewels. This financial assistance is excellent news for the citizens of Soulanges. This project will encourage the adoption and continued use of this healthy mode of transport, so that everyone can continue to enjoy our wonderful recreational and tourist attraction. I can't wait for the people of Soulanges and Quebec to come and enjoy their favourite sporting activities on a safe trail in a friendly and enchanting environment,” emphasizes the MNA.
The projects funded under Véloce III are consistent with the 2023-2028 Road Safety Action Plan, as they contribute to improving the supply of cycling infrastructure and making travel safer for more vulnerable users. Unveiled last August by the Minister, this plan, inspired by Vision Zero, presents 27 measures to reduce the number and severity of accidents on the road network.
