The Municipalité des Coteaux enthusiastically announces the Missions Enviro-Printanières, a series of eco-responsible events designed to raise awareness and mobilize the community to preserve our environment.

Clean-up for Earth Day

On April 20, the Municipality invites you to don your cleaning gloves for a citizens' clean-up along the bike path and the Soulanges Canal. The event takes place at Parc Emblème (21 Rue Principale, Les Coteaux) between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The community's efforts will help preserve the environment.

Gloves and bags will be provided. All you need to bring is a good mood and appropriate clothing. In the event of rain, the activity will be postponed until the following day (Sunday).

Event to raise awareness of eco-responsible initiatives

On May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Les Coteaux Town Hall will host an event dedicated to raising awareness of eco-responsible initiatives as part of Tree and Forest Month, in partnership with various local players committed to protecting the environment.

- Trees will be distributed free of charge by the 4-H Club and the ministère des Ressources naturelles et des forêts, with the support of volunteers and seniors from Lac Saint-François;

- There will also be self-service compost distribution (limit of 2 x 110-litre containers per vehicle, so bring your own tools and containers).

Also on site:

- Serres Van de Walle offering $500 worth of plants;

- Ecolocal market with plant sales;

- Municipal booth to promote services and raise awareness of monarch butterflies;

- Information and awareness booths on the environment, food waste and more.

"Missions Enviro-Printanières is an opportunity for each and every one of us to become agents of positive change for the environment. Together, we're building a greener, healthier and more resilient future for everyone," said Sylvain Brazeau, Mayor of Les Coteaux.

Ecological subsidy programs

The municipality of Les Coteaux also offers ecological subsidy programs to encourage its citizens to adopt environmentally-friendly practices:

- Grant for the purchase of a rainwater harvesting barrel;

- Grant for tree planting;

- Subsidy for the purchase of cloth diapers.

Coming this spring:

- Subsidy for the purchase of washable sanitary napkins.

For more information on these programs and to benefit from the subsidies, interested parties can visit the municipality's website (les-coteaux.qc.ca) and follow the simple steps indicated.

The municipality of Les Coteaux invites all citizens to join in these initiatives for an engaged spring and a greener community.

The municipality will be taking part in the dandelion challenge again this year, and invites citizens to do the same by delaying dandelion mowing for the benefit of bees and pollinating insects.

The decline in the bee population has been observed worldwide, and 35% of our food supply depends on bees and pollinating insects. They play an essential role in preserving the planet's ecosystems.

In line with this initiative, and in order to preserve ecosystems, this year the municipality wishes to leave some natural spaces on the territory to protect the flora and fauna. Certain vacant spaces will therefore be left unmowed, wherever possible.

It is also planned to create landscaping made up of indigenous perennial species that require no maintenance.

The municipality would like to thank its committed partners, Métro Fordham as a major event partner, Jeux-Tec and Les Serres Van de Walle. Their invaluable support greatly contributes to making these Missions Enviro-Printanières a success for the environment and the community.
