Starting April 8
The Community Fridge is launched in Les Coteaux
The Municipality of Les Coteaux is delighted to announce the launch of the Community Fridge at the Town Hall (65, route 338, Les Coteaux) on Monday, April 8, in collaboration with Les Garde-mangers Partagés de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. This initiative aims to improve the food supply for Vaudreuil-Soulanges residents while reducing food waste.
The Community Fridge will enable everyone to drop off or pick up food that might otherwise be thrown away. Accepted foods include fruits and vegetables, dairy products and bakery items, while meats and opened foods are not allowed. There will also be a cupboard for canning and dry goods. Everyone is asked to donate only food that is still edible, and to take only what they need.
"The Community Fridge embodies our commitment to solidarity and sustainability. By joining forces to reduce food waste and support those in need, we are strengthening the social fabric of our beautiful community," said Sylvain Brazeau, Mayor of the Municipalité des Coteaux. "We encourage all residents to actively participate in this initiative and make it a mobilizing project for our municipality."
Support the community at the Community Fridge
Whether you have surplus food, work in a restaurant or supermarket and want to give something back, or simply feel like cooking as a gift, the procedure for making a donation is simple. To access the Community Fridge, visit it 24/7 on the right-hand side of the building, near the former entrance to City Hall. Then take or donate whatever you wish.
The project was made possible thanks to the financial participation of the Table de concertation en sécurité alimentaire de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Source d'Entraide, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, and MNAs Marie-Claude Nichols and Marilyne Picard.
