Starting Tuesday April 2, the Vaudreuil-Dorion municipal library will be offering its residents a free pair of solar glasses (one per citizen), while supplies last. These glasses will enable them to watch the solar eclipse on April 8 in complete safety.

On that day, a rare total solar eclipse will take place in the afternoon, visible from southern Quebec. This spectacular astronomical phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, completely concealing it for a short time. For some, it's the event of a lifetime.

The last total eclipse visible from Montreal took place in 1932. We don't expect another one in the next 80 years.
