Relocation of the Cégep de Valleyfield clinic-school
Since February 2, the Cégep de Valleyfield's school clinic has taken up residence in new premises located a stone's throw from the college's main campus, at the corner of Champlain and Saint-Thomas streets in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. Every week, the clinic welcomes patients from the Suroît region for "walk-in" consultations.
The clinic-school is located at 55 rue Saint-Thomas, in the same building that houses the new Cégep de Valleyfield residences. On Friday, February 23, the school's general management took advantage of the visit of the Minister of Higher Education, Pascale Déry, to officially inaugurate this new location and show it off to the members of the media and dignitaries in attendance.
"The school-clinic is an excellent alternative to the emergency department, and complements the health services already offered in the area. In fact, the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest helped set it up. In addition to offering services that are accessible to the entire Suroît population, we are enabling 24 of our nursing students to do their internships here and put into practice the knowledge they have acquired during their studies. This project is proof that nothing is impossible when we all work together," emphasized Cégep de Valleyfield General Manager Marc Rémillard on this occasion.
The clinic's medical equipment was supplied by the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest.
