Néomédia's Survey
Do you believe that physical money is still useful?
Due to acts of vandalism, the company responsible for the vending machines at École secondaire des Echos has decided to stop accepting cash payments. From now on, only credit card or contactless payments will be allowed.
Announced on the school's social networks, the news has provoked strong reactions from parents. Many feel that such a decision could be detrimental to students who don't have a bank card. One parent sees this type of payment as an opening to taxing. Others believe it could favor the better-off.
The school has nevertheless reassured parents that the cafeteria remains available to students and that cash payments are still accepted.
Since the pandemic, payments exclusively by bank card or contactless card have become commonplace. Even the toll booth on Autoroute 30 no longer accepts cash. Many consumers have their entire wallets in their phones, or even their smartwatches.
The situation inspired this week's Neomedia question. Do you think cash is still useful?
